Where does the name Carpathia Paws come from?
The RMS Carpathia was a steamship that became famous for rescuing the survivors of the RMS Titanic, which hit an iceberg and sank on April 15, 1912.
Where do you get the animals from?
We pull them from high kill shelters in our area. All animals are vetted before adoption.
Do your animals get free vet care?
<font>No. We are lucky to have Dr. Rachel Peeples at Coastal Community Vet Clinic and Cedar Animal Hospital of Richmond Hill to offer us slightly reduced prices for their services for our rescue animals.</font>
How much does it cost to get an animal ready for adoption?
<font>It can cost us anywhere from $80-$100 to prepare a cat for adoption and $130-$150 for a dog. This is for routine services only and does not cover illness, injury or emergency.</font>

How much is your adoption fee?
The adoption fee for - a dog is $175
Why do I have to pay in order to adopt an animal?
The adoption fee helps us to continue saving animals.
Why do you require a home visit prior to adoption?
It is a safety precaution to assure us that the dog or cat will go to the right home for his/her needs. We want to make sure this animal is a good fit for the adoptive family to form a lasting life long bond.
What if I change my mind or I can't keep the animal for any reason?
At any time you changed your mind or can't keep the animal for any reason, you are required to return the animal to us.
Foster
How do I become a foster parent?
First you will have to fill out our foster application.
I already have a dog and/or cat. Can I still foster?
Yes. We will work together to find an animal that will fit in your home situation.
What if I fall in love and want to keep the dog/cat?
We call this a "foster failure" :)
What financial responsibilities will I have as a foster parent?
There are no up front costs to start fostering.
